Training 'Comparison and annotation of bacterial organisms'
Objectives
The availability of data on different strains of the same bacterial organism - a direct consequence of advances in sequencing technology - requires new comparative analytical approaches at genomic, proteic and metabolic level.
During these two days you will be trained in both the theory and the practice of such new approaches, making use of Genostar's dedicated software and data.
Program
Day 1:
- acquisition and visualization of a collection of contigs
- assembly using a reference sequence
- identification of specific regions
- prediction and validation of coding regions
- characterization of biological functions of gene products
- transfer of (genomic, proteic and metabolic) annotations
Day 2:
- introduction to genomic, proteic and metabolic databases
- elements for genome comparison: homologies, conserved syntenies
- prediction of catalytic functions
- comparative and differential metabolic analyses
- mapping expression data
