2 day workshop April 5-6, 2011
Genetic Interaction Networks
Objective
Molecular interactions determine the dynamics of cellular systems. Mathematical modeling permits to understand/ decipher these dynamics, using knowledge on discrete interactions as a starting point.
During these two days you will be trained in the fundamentals of mathematical modeling as well as the principles of the construction and simulation of models. You will have hands on practice completing the modeling, simulation and validation of a genetic regulatory network using Genostar's dedicated software (Genetic Network Analyzer).
Program
Day 1:
- Data, knowledge & concepts related to molecular interactions
- Boolean and qualitative models
- Systems of differential equations
- Identification and choice of parameters for model construction
Day 2:
- Construction of a dynamic model
- Simulation of interactive genetic network
- Introduction to use of GNA ® software
- Validation of dynamic model with expression data

Practical aspects
- To allow one-on-one work time with each participant, groups will consist of a maximum of 12 participants
- All participants will receive a handbook with slides and exercises
- Each participant will be provided with a personal workspace equipped with a temporary license for the software and data necessary (Genetic Network Analyzer)
- All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop
- Lunches and coffee will be provided
